Dear valued clients and Dentons colleagues,

November 1, 2020 marks the 50th Anniversary of Zain & Co.’s formation. My partners and I feel very privileged to have all of you share this very significant moment of our firm’s history with us.

Firstly, my partners and I would like to thank our founders and predecessors; this is equally your moment and we remain indebted to each of you for your vision, guidance and values that you have inculcated in us to make the Firm what it is now. We hope that we are able to similarly pass on the lessons we have learnt from you to our future generation of partners.

Since its inception in 1970, Zain & Co. has consistently strived to deliver quality legal advice to a diverse local and foreign client base whilst upholding the highest standards of integrity. More recently, the Firm has been propelled to new heights through our combination with Dentons and we are grateful for the support of an extremely distinguished roster of colleagues and exceptional lawyers around the world who will join us in charting the future of the Firm. Through Dentons, we have found common ground in our commitment to deliver high quality service and equally, in a shared aspiration to be contributing citizens of the communities we belong to.

We appreciate the value Dentons places on diversity and on an inclusive and polycentric presence. Dentons prides itself in not having one global headquarters and in not having a dominant national culture, dignifying and acknowledging the fact that local practitioners understand their own markets best. The aggregated building of a “global-local” law firm and the belief that we will be better for the sum of all parts, is a powerful identity in these times and, I believe, the best approach for the future.

Many of our clients have been with us from the very beginning and have grown with us over the years. Many more have joined us in the intervening years. Without your trust and support we would not be where we are today. We will strive to continue doing what we do to the highest standards. As Walt Disney once said, “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends”.

It is my duty and privilege as Managing Partner of the Firm to reiterate our commitment to uphold the values, quality and integrity that have brought us success over the last five decades. Regrettably, we are unable to commemorate this anniversary with a celebration befitting this milestone but as we adjust to this new reality, I am convinced that together, we will navigate these troubled waters and come out stronger on the other side of the pandemic.
